The Demand for Lion Parts in Zambia

Targeted poaching of lions for skins, claws, teeth, bones, and other body parts is a new threat to lions - serious in some places, and a potential threat in others. LRF grantee WCP - Wildlife Crime Prevention and Zambian Carnivore Programme are working with authorities in Zambia to proactively study where the demand for these products is coming from, who is involved, and how the threat can be tackled effectively before it has a chance to become more widespread. We commend the proactive approach of the Zambian authorities to tackle this emergent threat. Learn more about how these two organizations are working to protect lions.
